Comparison of Navel Orangeworm Adults Detected with Optical Sensors and Captured with Conventional Sticky Traps

چکیده
Attractants used with sticky traps for monitoring navel orangeworm include artificial pheromone lures, ovipositional bait (ovibait) bags, and phenyl propionate; however, the have limitations of potentially becoming ineffective because full or dirty glue surfaces having access to data dependent on increasingly expensive labor. A study comparing detection a commercially available pseudo-acoustic optical sensor (hereafter, sensor) connected server through cellular gateway found similar naval activity profiles between traps, timestamps events in sensors was consistent behavior males orienting pheromone. Sensors ovibait detected when no were captured ovibait, this inconsistent oviposition times previous studies. When propionate attractant, more highly correlated than micro-level (individual replicates intervals), but there high variation week-to-week differed. These results indicate that these represent promising alternative use as an research is needed develop other attractants. will guide developers industry transfer technology.

The navel orangeworm, Amyelois transitella (Walker) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), is a key pest of almond, pistachio, and walnut tree crops in California. Understanding dispersal of adults between orchards is important to improving management options. Laboratory flight behavior of unmated navel orangeworm of ages 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 d posteclosion was examined using flight mills. As a group, females ...
